NYC Special Event:
Naked! Newbie Workshop
On October 13th, join us for a special workshop built by Naked in Motion’s founder, Willow!
The class is designed to reach people who have little to no experience with social nudity, giving an introduction to the practice with carefully curated baby steps. If you’ve ever doubted your ability to attend a group naked yoga class, this workshop is for you! Willow will provide context and education about social nudity and guide students through their own journey as they confront the naked jitters (in keeping with our #faceyournakedfears theme for October).
This three-hour workshop will include lecture (exploring some history, misconceptions, and questions about naked yoga), journaling, optional group discussion, meditation, and movement. We’ll start off fully clothed and slowly introduce ourselves to nudity in intentional stages.
Because of the particular audience we’re trying to reach, we ask that our regular students leave the tickets to those who are true Naked! Beginners. Note that the workshop welcomes all levels of experience with yoga itself.
Participation in nudity is mandatory, but (as for all Naked in Motion classes) trans & cis women, and anyone who was designated female at birth, have the option to wear bottoms. Menstruation doesn’t necessitate wearing bottoms: feel free to use any menstrual management tools. Curious about this rule? Visit nakedinmotion.com/mission to learn more about our mission. Also, please make use of anything that affirms and supports your gender (e.g. binders, chest pieces, packers). Everyone should be an active, willing participant and at least 18 years old.

About the instructor:
Willow is the owner and founder of Naked in Motion, as well as its only Pilates instructor. She is fiercely passionate about intersectional feminism, body/sex-positivity, and trying to make yoga & Pilates more inclusive. She is a yoga teacher and fully-certified Pilates apparatus instructor with over 800 hours of teacher training and over 3 years of teaching experience. Her movement training includes more than 20 years of classical ballet and jazz and is influenced by a decade of theatre performance. Her approach to Pilates and Yoga includes much attention to detail and enthusiasm for alignment.
She encourages students to treat themselves with kindness. She decries a competitive yoga environment, and she constantly reminds her students to do less, and make choices based on their body instead of on what they see around them. She carries on the words of her teacher: MORE IS NOT BETTER, IT'S JUST MORE!
$50 Early Bird Tickets available through October 6th! Beginning the 7th, General Admission tickets are $60.
In the spirit of inclusivity, we’ll also offer 3 scholarship tickets for $35 - QTPOC prioritized. Email firstname.lastname@example.org to claim!
All Naked in Motion events have a 24-hour cancellation policy, so if you cancel less than 24 hours before the event, you forfeit your payment. If you’re canceling more than 24 hours ahead, that ticket will go back onto your account for use on another class. Keep in mind tickets expire 30 days after purchase.
